ABOUT FUNKLE
funkle was established in 2007 by four individuals and are based in Notodden, Telemark. funkle is the result of an urgency to develop ourselves further creatively and to work with new materials and in new areas.
With a broad education and diverse competence from graphic design, illustration and art we made it our first mission to shake up the sofa cushion, funkle style.
Being inspired by the diverse results and highly satisfied with out first creations, with further development the end results are the cushions you will find on the website today.
Story telling
Through the combination of idea, design and choice of material/s each product reveals a narrative.
Surprisingly traditional
Selection of material is an integral part of all our products and we embrace the use of traditional materials used in a non traditional way. Playful geometric animals are stitched on onto textiles traditionally used on the bunad(the Norwegian national costume). Or typography embroidered onto 100% wool fine suiting cloth which would more traditionally find its home at a tailors on Saville Row, London.
Limited edition
In response to the banality of mass production our products are all produced in limited edition, giving our customers an authentic item to genuinely treasure.
Made in Norway
All our cushions are currently made in Norway, this gives us greater control to produce a quality product and an authentic piece of Norwegian design.
Masculine / Feminine
It is important for us to to create products that appeal to both sexes. In designing our cushions we focus largely on appealing to men and involving them more to participate in interior soft furnishings.
Personality
The funkle team is a group of diverse individuals which combined create fun, innovative and desirable products.
